I have always had an interest in guns and hunting. I think everyone loves to shoot, some just don't know it yet. I have enjoyed shooting shotguns, handguns (pistols & revolvers) and rifles. I've been lucky enough to shoot a variety of weapons. The first military surplus rifle I shot was the M1 Carbine. Since then I've had the pleasure to shoot both the M1 Garand and the M14. I honestly can't say I prefer one over the other. Clearly owning all three would be awesome. The AR-15, SKS and AK's pretty well cover the Evil Black Rifle sector even though none were full auto. I've never fired the FN, FAL, CETME, Galil or some of the others but have seen some examples. Of course some rimfire and centerfire hunting rifles have found themselves in my grasp. I still have fun with air rifles. As far as black powder goes I have shot a rifle and a pistol.
I've recently been shooting handguns more than anything. I like to swap guns among friends at the range and that leads to diversity in many areas. I shot a Beretta Neos .22LR and a .50 Desert Eagle practically back to back. In the mix was a .38 Special Derringer that threw a blinding fire ball, once you overcame the horrendous sights and trigger pull. Contrast that with the S&W or Colt police revolvers with sights and triggers that left nothing to be desired. In particular I've taken to 1911's as of late. I do find myself wanting to compare the offerings of Springfield, Rock Island and others. The price of .45ACP not being as low as .22LR also has me shooting lot of .22LR.
I've shot an assortment of firearms including the Glock, Taurus, Kimber, SIG, Ruger, Marlin, Weatherby, Browning, Remington, Colt, Walther, Winchester and others over the years. Honestly, getting to know the owners has really been the better part of the experience. |
